One of my New Year's Resolutions

Wow! I can't believe it's been six months since I posted last. Well, actually, maybe I can. Of course it's been super busy for all of us and blogging hasn't been much of a priority for me. And it doesn't help when no one else is blogging or reading your blog. But I'm making a New Year's Resolution: I am going to blog more. Even if no one reads it.
For Christmas presents for my In-laws I made genealogy books for the Chess Family. I researched all of DJ's dad's family and found some really interesting things. I made a couple trips to the History Center here in Canon and got some cool stories about where the Chess Family homesteaded and got some old newspaper articles from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Online I found a letter from Robert Chess (one of DJ's great great great (etc.) Grandfathers) to one of his brothers. It was while Robert was in the Civil War. It's a long letter. SO cool. Other than that letter, I only got a couple of stories written by the actual people in the Chess line. My search got me clear back to 1775 and now I'm stuck. So this research has inspired me to record more for our family to know where we came from, what we are doing and what life is like for us. Even the most mundane thing for us could be so fun and interesting for our families in 100 years. We can hope all we want the rapture happens before then, but it might not and I think it would be great to have as much info from our time as possible.
So that's some food for thought for the rest of you.

Yea for new blogs! I'll try to get better too. Can't wait to see the Civil War letter- that is just too cool! Had fun talking to you last night and hope you're not to zombie-ish today! ; )
